Sanger Farm, Kingston ON
It’s a good thing that the members of the LapDogs Cycling Club XC Mountainbike Race Team are not made of sugar, because they would have melted last Saturday! Our good friends at Substance Projects put on the second instalment of the XC Marathon Cup on Saturday, October 16, at the Sanger Farm in Kingston. There’s a reason why XC racers think nothing of driving from Toronto to Kingston for the day in order to race this event – the course is one of the most unique and fun on the race calendar – racers go through a barn, a corn maze and what can best be described as a Moto-X pump track.
Mother Nature, however, had other plans and dumped about 50mm of rain onto the race course in the 24 hours leading up to the race. Fortunately, the race organizers were on the case and managed to re-route the race course in such a way that the trails were not damaged. But there was mud. Lots and lots of mud…. Fortunately, the Pack was up to the challenge.
